Heart and Chain Stud Earrings

A little while ago I had a comment on my YouTube channel that jump rings were underrated and I agree. Today I’m making a pair of earrings using jump rings, a few beads and some gorgeous heart shaped earring findings. If you know how to open and close jump rings and make wire wrapped loops, these are pretty simple. If you don’t know how to do those things, I’ve shared some links to some videos which will help you out.

Make the Dangles

Open one of the 4mm jump rings and thread on two more. Close the jump ring.

Onto a ball pin, thread 1 heart and 2 seed beads.

Make a wire wrapped loop with three wraps, threading the centre 4mm jump ring through the loop before you wrap it. If you haven’t done this before, you watch this video about how to make a wire wrapped loop.

Make 6 dangles (for both earrings).

Make the Chain

Open one of the jump rings and thread on the end jump ring of two of the dangles. Close the jump ring.

Open a jump ring and thread on one of the spare jump rings from two of the dangles. Close the jump ring. This will join two of the hearts together.

Note: You will have a jump ring hanging free on either end of the run.

Using the same process, connect another heart on the other end so that all three heart dangles are connected and you have a jump ring hanging free on either end.

Open another jump ring and add one of the free end jump rings and one more jump ring. Close the jump ring. You will have three jump rings past the one with the heart dangle on it.

Repeat for the other end.

Add the Earring Post

Open another jump ring and thread on the end jump ring and the loop of the heart stud post. Close the jump ring.

Open another jump ring and thread on the butterfly back and the other end jump ring. Close the jump ring.

Repeat all these steps for the other earring.

Wearing the Earring

To wear the earring, you put the stud post through your ear from the front and do up the butterfly on the back. The chain of the earring with the dangles will hang down underneath your ear from front to back.
